This site was created as a personal folly. I used to edit a computing magazine for the Middle East and spent many happy days in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Iraq and many other countries. I also have a lot of friends in the US and know many fine American and believe America is essentially a liberal democracy.

There are reasons for anger against America and the West but they do not forgive the appalling events of 11 Sept.

I have created this site in the hope that it will help develop a better informed understanding of where we really are today. Hopefully it's useful life will be short.

Maintaining this site properly would take a lot of time. If any organisation or individual would care to sponsor my efforts that would be most appreciated. I am not trying to make a profit but I do have to eat! However, no sponsor will be given any editorial control over this site.
